Robin Williams to Have Heart Surgery
NEW YORK (March 4) - Robin Williams’
publicist says the legendary comedic actor
needs heart surgery and will have to cancel
the remainder of his one-man show,
‘Weapons of Self-Destruction.’
Diane Rosen said in a news release Thursday
that Williams needs an aortic valve replacement,
a procedure that calls for open
heart surgery. The 57-year-old Williams is
reportedly in the intensive care unit of a
hospital in Miami, Florida.
He initially complained of shortness of
breath, which led to his hospitalization on
Wednesday. The comedian said in a press
release that doctors are evaluating him and
recommended a week of rest.
Through his rep, Williams says he is
“touched by everyone’s support and well
wishes.”
The Miami Herald was the first to report
that Williams was seeking treatment for
heart issues at a Miami hospital.
The ‘Goodwill Hunting’ actor said he was
hoping to continue his 80-city comedy tour
on Monday with a show in Jacksonville.
