THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN CHRIST'S MINISTRY

THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN CHRIST'S MINISTRYBasic Bible Doctrine-#7e

CHRIST WAS CONCEIVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Luke 1:30-35 KJV)
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
{31} And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb,
and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
{32} He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest:
and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
{33} And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
{34} Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
{35} And the angel answered and said unto her,
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

(Isa 7:14-15 KJV)
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
{15} Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

(Mat 1:22-23 KJV)
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
{23} Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

(Gal 4:4-7 KJV)
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son,
made of a woman, made under the law,
{5} To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
{6} And because ye are sons,
God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
{7} Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son;
and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

CHRIST WAS ANOINTED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Mat 3:16-17 KJV)
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water:
and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him,
and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
{17} And lo a voice from heaven, saying,
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

(Luke 4:16-19 KJV)
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up:
and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
{17} And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
{18} The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,
{19} To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

CHRIST WAS SUPPORTED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH HIS TEMPTATION

(Luke 4:1-2 KJV)
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan,
and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
{2} Being forty days tempted of the devil.
And in those days he did eat nothing:
and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

(Luke 4:13-14 KJV)
And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
{14} And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee:
and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

JESUS WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
(Luke 4:1 KJV)
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan,
and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

(Isa 11:1-5 KJV)
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
{2} And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
{3} And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD:
and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
{4} But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth:
and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
{5} And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

(Isa 61:1-2 KJV)
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me;
because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
{2} To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all that mourn;

CHRIST'S MIRACLES WERE PERFORMED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Mat 12:28 KJV)
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God,
then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

(Acts 10:34-38 KJV)
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said,
Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
{35} But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
{36} The word which God sent unto the children of Israel,
preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
{37} That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea,
and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
{38} How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:
who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil;
for God was with him.

CHRIIST WAS OFFERED TO GOD FOR OUR SINS BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Heb 9:11-15 KJV)
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come,
by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
{12} Neither by the blood of goats and calves,
but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us.
{13} For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean,
sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
{14} How much more shall the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
{15} And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament,
that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament,
they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

CHRIST WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

(Rom 1:3-4 KJV)
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
{4} And declared to be the Son of God with power,
according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

(Rom 8:10-11 KJV)
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin;
but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
{11} But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,
he that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

CHRIST WAS JUSTIFIED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
(1 Tim 3:16 KJV)
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world,
received up into glory.

(Isa 50:5-10 KJV)
The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
{6} I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair:
I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
{7} For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded:
therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
{8} He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me?
let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
{9} Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me?
lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
{10} Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant,
that walketh in darkness, and hath no light?
let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.
