Walking in the Holy Spirit

Walking in the Holy Spirit
BBD# 7F

THE ENTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES AS THE RESULT OF SALVATION.

(Rev 3:19-21 KJV)
(Jesus says), As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
{20} Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear my voice,
and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
{21} To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

JESUS COMES TO US NOW IN THE FORM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND LIVES WITHIN US.

(1 Cor 2:16 KJV)
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ.

(Col 1:26-28 KJV)
Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations,
but now is made manifest to his saints:
{27} To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
{28} Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom;
that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

(John 14:15-21 KJV)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
{16} And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
{17} Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him:
but ye know him;
for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

{18} I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
{19} Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more;
but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
{20} At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
{21} He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:
and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father,
and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

(John 14:22-26 KJV)
Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot,
Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
{23} Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him,
and we will come unto him,
and make our abode [Grk=our contiuous dwelling place} with him.
{24} He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings:
and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
{25} These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
{26} But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name,
he shall teach you all things,
and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

-----------------------------------------
THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR THE BELIEVER
To baptize: Gr.=baptizo, to make thoroughly wet).
(1 Cor. 12:13KJV)
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,
whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free;
and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

(Gal. 3:27KJV)
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ
have put on Christ.

(Rom 13:11-14 KJV)
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:
for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
{12} The night is far spent, the day is at hand:
let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
{13} Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness,
not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
{14} But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

(Rom 6:3-13 KJV)
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
{4} Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.
{5} For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death,
we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
{6} Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
{7} For he that is dead is freed from sin.
{8} Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
{9} Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
{10} For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
{11} Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin,
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
{12} Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
{13} Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead,
and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
-----------------------------------------
THE FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRT
(Eph 5:18-21 KJV)
And be not drunk* with wine, wherein is excess;
but be filled** with the Spirit;
{19} Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
{20} Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
{21} Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

*Drunk- Gr= to drink to the point of intoxication.
**Filled. Gr= to fulfill(as a prophecy is fulfilled); to fill up a valley and make it level, to furnish, make plentifully supplied.

-----------------------------------------
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh

Walk- Gr=to tread all around, "walk all over the place", walk at large (espec. as proof of ability); fig. to live, deport oneself, follow (as a companion), to go, be occupied with, walk (about),

(Gal 5:16-25 KJV)
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
{17} For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh:
and these are contrary the one to the other:
so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
{18} But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
{19} Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;
Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, {20} Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred,
variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
{21} Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:
of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past,
that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
{22} But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness,
goodness, faith, {23} Meekness, temperance:
against such there is no law.
{24} And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
{25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(John 15:4-8 KJV)
Abide in me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine;
no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
{5} I am the vine, ye are the branches:
He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without me ye can do nothing.

{6} If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered;
and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
{7} If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
{8} Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit;
so shall ye be my disciples.

{9} As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
{10} If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
{11} These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
{12} This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
{13} Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
{14} Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
------------------------------------------
OBEYING THE HOLY SPIRIT
(Rom 6:11-19 KJV)
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin,
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
{12} Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
{13} Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead,
and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
{14} For sin shall not have dominion over you:
for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
{15} What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace?
God forbid.
{16} Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey,
his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
{17} But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin,
but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
{18} Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
{19} I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh:
for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity;
even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

FOLLOWING THE LEADING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT...THE SHEKINAH GLORY...BEING LED BY THE SPIRIT

Num 9:17-18 (KJV)
And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle,
then after that the children of Israel journeyed:
and in the place where the cloud abode,
there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
{18} At the commandment of the LORD the children of Israel journeyed,
and at the commandment of the LORD they pitched:
as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.

Isa 30:21 (KJV)
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying,
This is the way, walk ye in it,
when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

(Rom 8:11-17 KJV)
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you,
he that raised up Christ from the dead
shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
{12} Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
{13} For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:
but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
{14} For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
{15} For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
{16} The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
{17} And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ;
if so be that we suffer with him,
that we may be also glorified together.

------------------------------------------
EXPERIENCING PEACE FROM THE PRESENCE AND FELLOWSHIP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Col 3:15 (AMPLIFIED BIBLE)
And let the peace(soul harmony which comes) from the Christ
rule(act as umpire continually) in your hearts-
deciding and settling with finality
all questions that arise in your minds-
{in that peaceful state to which as members of Christ's}one body
you were also called to live.
And be thankful, appreciative and giving praise to God always.

James 4:13-16 (KJV)
Go to now, ye that say,
To day or to morrow we will go into such a city,
and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
{14} Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.
For what is your life? It is even a vapour,
that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
{15} For that ye ought to say,
If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
{16} But now ye rejoice in your boastings:
all such rejoicing is evil.
----------------------------------
QUENCHING THE SPIRIT

The sin of quenching the Holy Spirit. "Quench not the Spirit" (1 Thess. 5:19).This sin involves not doing that which the Holy Spirit would have us do. It is negative in nature. The same word is used elsewhere in reference to the putting out of a fire.

(1 Th 5:19-24 KJV)
Quench not the Spirit.
{20} Despise not prophesyings.
{21} Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
{22} Abstain from all appearance of evil.
{23} And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;
and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless
unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
{24} Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
---------------------------------------

DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT-DO NOT MAKE HIM "SORROWFUL"
(Eph 4:30-32 KJV)
And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God,
whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
{31} Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour,
and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
{32} And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

(Eph 5:1-8 KJV)
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
{2} And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us,
and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
{3} But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness,
let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
{4} Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient:
but rather giving of thanks.
{5} For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
{6} Let no man deceive you with vain words:
for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
{7} Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
{8} For ye were sometimes darkness,
but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
(1 Cor 11:31-32 KJV)
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
{32} But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord,
that we should not be condemned with the world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
CLEANSING AND RESTORATION BY THE HOLY SPIRIT

God does not demand vessels of silver or gold, but he must have clean ones. Thus the union with the Holy Spirit is so strong that nothing can break it, but the communion with the Spirit is so fragile that the smallest sin can shatter it. The secret of the Spirit-filled life is the knowledge that broken fellowship can be and must be quicly instantly restored by confession of sin through the forgiveness provided by Christ’s blood.

(1 John 1:5-10 KJV)
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you,
that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
{6} If we say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
{7} But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
{8} If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
{9} If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
{10} If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

(1 John 2:1-5 KJV)
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
{2} And he is the propitiation for our sins:
and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
{3} And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
{4} He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
{5} But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him.
