"God's Wisdom for Mothers" compiled by Jack Countryman

This wonderful little booklet is sectioned into chapters with many subjects.

For example, if you're in need of direction, go to the chapter on 'God encourages each mother to...' and then read all the sub-sections or pick one just for the moment. For example there is '...Pray for one another' or '...Celebrate with joy'.

The sections are straight scripture, taken directly from the Bible. Nothing else is added. It is pure, it is simple, it is a wonderful book.

There are blank pages in the back for notes or prayer requests.

Mr. Countryman did a beautiful job compiling this for us mother's who need encouragement, a pat on the back, reminders of love, assurance. God always loves us and that will never cease. We are all "fearfully and wonderfully made" Psalm 139:14 This books makes it easy to find scripture to remind us women just how special & precious we are to Him.

It would make a wonderful gift for yourself, a friend, a sister, your mom, aunt, cousin, teacher, a new young mother to lead her in the right way... : )

While it's hard to imagine pop culture without these icons, here's a look at some celebrities' career aspirations before they made it big:

When comedian and former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Will Ferrell graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in sports information, he took a job as a sportscaster on a weekly cable show. But he found that his calling was in acting and stand-up comedy. He later played a newscaster on the big screen in "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy."

Eva Longoria attended Texas A&M-Kingsville, graduating with a degree in Kinesiology. After graduating, she entered a talent contest, went to Los Angeles and was signed by an agent. After stints on soaps including "General Hospital," "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "The Young and the Restless," Eva Longoria landed a role as Gabrielle Solis, on the popular television series, "Desperate Housewives."

Instead of joining his father's oil business, Matthew McConaughey attended the University of Texas in Austin intending to become a lawyer. He reportedly changed his major to acting after discoving an Og Mandino book "The Greatest Salesman in the World" and girls all over the world have been swooning since.

After being discovered by an agent in a pizza parlor when she was 11 years old, Natalie Portman began a career in modeling, which she later bypassed to concentrate on acting. Her role as Queen Amidala in "Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace" and Oscar-nominated role in "Closer" heightened her status as a Hollywood star. She took time off to study at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, majoring in psychology. Although she intends to continue acting, she also plans to practice psychology.

Before becoming an Academy Award-nominated actress and successful hip hop artist, Queen Latifah (a.k.a. Dana Owens) studied broadcast journalism at Borough of Manhattan Community College. She considered pursuing a career either a newscaster or a lawyer.

Denzel Washington attended Fordham University to pursue a career in journalism before getting involved in student drama productions and being drawn into acting. He finished his degree and moved to San Francisco attending the American Conservatory Theater for one year before pursuing acting work and later earning multiple awards.

"Charlie's Angels" star, Lucy Liu attended New York University before transferring to the University of Michigan where she graduated with a major in Asian Languages. During her last year of college, she landed the lead role for her school's production of "Alice in Wonderland" that launched her career in acting.

Before Benicio del Toro was in "Traffic" and "Sin City," he studied business at the University of California at San Diego. Although his father wanted him to become a lawyer, del Toro secretly changed his major to acting and later dropped out to study the craft in New York City.

Before playing a Harvard law student in "Legally Blonde," Reese Witherspoon attended Stanford University, majoring in English literature. The actress took a hiatus from her educational pursuits to take on roles for the movies "Freeway" and "Fear," and eventually earned an Oscar in 2006 for Best Actress in "Walk the Line."

Years playing the piano in "Pretty Woman" and tap dancing in "Chicago," Richard Gere attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst on a gymnastics scholarship. He studied philosophy, but dropped out of school after two years to pursue acting with the Seattle Repertory Theatre and New York's Provincetown Playhouse.

Putting the spotlight on hand sanitizers - the hurtful truth (BORROWED)

I’ve never developed the habit of using anti bacterial hand sanitizers like Purell on a regular basis. I wish I could say that it is because I educated myself, and learned that using these hand sanitizers is potentially bad for my health and bad for the environment, but that’s not it at all. I just prefer the sensation of warm water and a nice smelling soap and I am not a germaphobe!

MA Representative Ed Markey is one of the leaders who would like to remove antimicrobial soaps from the shelves of pharmacies and supermarkets across the country. Apparently the chemicals used in these soaps and hand sanitizers have quite a negative environmental impact.

Effects on the Environment

Two antibacterial chemicals of concern are triclosan (TCS) and triclocarban (TCC). According to Rolf Halden, PhD, a scientist at Arizona State University, Americans dump more than one million pounds of TCS and TCC into the environment yearly from discharges of treated waste water into oceans, bays, rivers, and lakes. TCC and TCS accumulate in the tissues and organs of animals.¹

Effects on Health

But it’s not just the environment; studies show these chemicals can adversely affect our health. An increasing number of studies show both TCS and TCC are endocrine disruptors that interfere with hormone functions in mammals and other animals. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that have been linked to problems, including cancer, reproductive failure, and developmental abnormalities. According to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, endocrine disruptors may cause reduced fertility in women and men, early puberty in girls, and increases in cancers of the breast, ovaries, and prostate.²

I’ve heard that the incessant use of hand sanitizers actually kills the good bacteria (also known as germs) living on our skin. While some bacteria get us sick, researchers have found a germ that actually protects our immune system.

Drunk on Purell?

Today, a discussion on my favoriteBoston Talk Radio show Margery and Jim on 96.9 Boston Talks asked the question, “Are you a fan of hand sanitizers or not?” One woman called in with a horror story. She said her baby was unresponsive when she tried to wake him up from a nap. Apparently her little baby was drunk on hand sanitizer after being “purelled” up for their trip to the gym and then again for their trip to the grocery store. Her baby sucked his thumb while napping and became intoxicated on hand sanitizer, which of course contains alcohol! After an emergency room trip, thankfully he was okay. Insane! I’ve never heard of such a thing!

Hand Sanitizers in School

I know my kids get their school supplies through the school and each one gets a bottle of hand sanitizer. Based on what I have found out today, I am thinking that their days of using hand sanitizer in school are over – especially when regular hand washing with soap and water is all you need!

This book contains 55 questions answered from God's point of view ("his eternal prospective"), and followed up by Jesus using his life experiences. You will also be treated to views from biblical women like Mary, the mother of Jesus; Mary Magdalene; Hannah; Anna; Lydia; Priscilla; Martha and more.

The chapters include questions asked about GOD, JESUS, THE BIBLE, LIFE, PRAYER, RELATIONSHIPS, GOOD AND EVIL.

Some of the questions include: "How can your spirit live in us?", "Why was a virgin birth necessary?", "How can the bible still be relevant?", "What about women in ministry?", "Do we have to go to church?", "Can prayer really make a difference?", "How can we respect an ungodly boss?", "How can you forgive truly evil criminals?"

A Conversation with God for Women will give you hope, understanding and a sense of peace. Read it along side your bible and see that it does follow scripture guidelines. God's word is truth; feel comfortable knowing his love for us will never end and he will always protect us even if it seems some of his final decisions don't make sense to us... This book is another example of how we do not have to be afraid to ask him questions. Life is full of questions, and there is only one being who knows all the answers.

Russell: I’m leaving you now, Eddie. (paraphrased) I brought you this.

Eddie: A bible, huh…

Russell: Yes, God’s holy word.

Eddie: That’s alright, preacher. Hey, will you look at this; it’s in Spanish.

Russell: Please read it, Eddie.

Eddie: Wow… yeah, I’ll read it.

Russell: May I have your word, Eddie?

Eddie: If Eddie Martinez tells you he’s gonna do something, he’s gonna do something. Now I’m gonna read this.

Russell: I believe you, Eddie, may the Lord speak to you.

Eddie: Yeah, preacher, you’re a good egg, via con dios.

Russell: (starting to walk out, turns back again) Eddie, there is something I must tell you… Jesus is coming back soon to set up his earthly kingdom. The requirement though to enter this kingdom is that we must be absolutely perfect; without sin.

Eddie: Well that leaves me out of that party.

Russell: (chuckles) No one is without sin, Eddie, not one. All of us face eternal judgment and separation from God. This is why we must receive Jesus Christ into our life as Lord. He’s the only one who lived a perfect life and thus became the substitute for our sins.

Eddie: For me, too…?

Russell: Yes, for you, too. He rose from the dead proving he was God and he wants to save us from the penalty of our sins and give us eternal life, but we must first individually receive him, Eddie, this is what it means to believe in Jesus.

Eddie: Wow, you know… no one ever quite explained it to me like that before.

Russell: God wants us to be reconciled to himself, so much so, that he gave his only son to die for us. It’s all in this book, Eddie. I pray that you will consider what I’m saying.

Eddie: Yeah.

Russell: Goodnight, Eddie.

Eddie: Hey, preacher, hey, listen, I gotta confess to you something, you know earlier when I gave you my word that I was gonna read this book? Well, I was lying. But that was before. Now I give you my word from my heart… but I’m gonna read this book.

Russell: God bless you, Eddie.

Eddie: (reading Genisis aloud in Spanish)
