PRODUCT REVIEW: Get Lean Kit by Lean180.com

Get Lean Kit by Lean180.com

I received this free product from the company in exchange for writing a review on my blog.

I am not being compensated any further. The company's links are at the bottom of this post.

I received a 7 day sample of all of the 3 products to check out. I actually surprised myself and did VERY well doing this. I personally called it a ''detox'' because I cut out ALL dairy, sugars and processed foods for the entire week. I only used their products: the 2 sets of tablets, and the shake powder. I followed their recipes and suggestions, and lost 14 lbs! :) A lot of that is water weight as well as toxins. Now, I will say, for me, personally, the shake made me a little on-edge and shaky. I figured it out while keeping everything separated by a couple of hours. That said, I still finished it off and did my best, and I am happy with this product line.
I love doing a detox every once in a while, it helps my body reset.

You can get a full regimen on Amazon here:

PRODUCT REVIEW: Sari Foods' Organic Spirulina

I so wanted to love this! I am a big fan of proteins and wheys and the like, that I add to my smoothies or teas, because, honestly, I did not have a great diet as I aged, so I balance out my bad habits with adding greens and proteins that I would not normally consume or chew, to my smoothies. This Spirulina is a great concept. Really! But sadly, this was a poor product.

After cutting open the top of the bag, the odor hit me. I thought, ok, I could get used to this just like I did with valerian root, just leave the bag open a minute while you get other things ready... no, I can't, it was just too overwhelming.

Second, the 1/2 spoonful I put into my hot tea did not melt. It clumped up on the spoon like a baby koala hanging on his momma for dear life! Strangest thing I've ever seen. So, I stirred and stirred. Approximately half of it broke away and floated on top, never mixing in. The rest of it stayed firmly attached to the spoon. I had to use a paper towel to pull it off over the trashcan. Then I dumped out the ruined cup of tea and rinsed the cup out.

Third, the bag would not reclose! No matter what: starting from the end, starting from the middle, mash mash MASH! It did not matter, that zip was not going to match up and seal! So I slowly folded the top over (so as not to inhale anymore odor), and zipped it into a gallon baggie.

Unfortunately, I will not be trying this in a smoothie this week... maybe next week.

I'm so sorry to give a 'bad' review, it's my first in a very long time, but I do not think, at this point in time, that this product is a good choice. Maybe later down the road after improvements.

I suggest they rework the seal situation, and somehow incorporate something into the 'food' to make it blend into hot liquid.

My Rating: Poor (because I can't bring myself to type an 'F'!)

Tess' healing smoothie add-ins:
Probiotic powder “Probiotic powder promotes a healthy gut and digestive tract. I add probiotic powder to every smoothie I make because it’s undetectable at ¼ to ½ tsp. If you don’t have powder, just crack open a capsule.”
Ginger “Ginger is incredibly warming and great for digestion. It adds a nice zing to smoothies and helps balance the flavor of bitter greens.”
Maca “Maca is an adaptogenic herb—meaning, it may be able to recharge your potentially fatigued adrenal glands and help you respond to stress. It also aids in muscle tissue recovery and increases stamina and energy.”
Fresh herbs “Herbs like basil, mint, and rosemary add a great dimension of flavor and contain a variety of health-boosting antioxidants and phytochemicals.”
Cinnamon “Cinnamon adds great flavor and can help regulate blood sugar and blood pressure.”
Cayenne pepper “Cayenne is great for stimulating digestion, it acts as a prebiotic (encouraging the colonization of friendly bacteria), and it’s fantastic for detoxification.”

It's amazing what an Apricot can do!

CHOCOLATE and APRICOTS and CRAVINGS and DR. OZ : )

So part of the Dr. Oz "rethink your diet" plan (my name for it) is to pick up items like dried apricots, slivered almonds and the like.

After eating two dried apricots, I no longer crave chocolate.

Now for those of you who actually know me, you're thinking, "NO WAY!?"

Yes way, I swear. The sweetness of them, combined with the tartness actually STOPS my craving for something chocolaty. Even thinking 'chocolate', and writing the word 'chocolate' does not make me want any, in the least, I swear!

So if you're ever in the NEED for chocolate (like right now, maybe), stop by the store and pick up a bag of Sun-Maid Mediterranean Apricots. (they did not ask me to endorse them, it just happens to be the ones I am eating! I would love some coupons, Sun-Maid! HINT HINT)

As soon as you get to the car, pop one in. Eat another a few moments later and "whammo". No more craving!!

Another thing I like to do is mix 1 TEASPOON of Golden Raisins with 1 TEASPOON of slivered almonds and 1 TEASPOON of walnuts broken up, and 1 TEASPOON chocolate chips. ("TEASPOON" = DO NOT USE MORE THAN A TEASPOON, DARN IT!)
This is a snack I like during the late afternoon or evening. It helps me from eating way too much at supper, or scrounging for a really bad-for-me dessert!

A huge glass of green tea or large mug of hot green tea (Melaleuca brand) before any meal also helps with filling up the tummy with GOOD stuff.

So, off to the store with ya. You're welcome ; )
