Autumn Rains
By Phyllis Adelle Sherer 11-02-09
Orange and yellow leaves flutter and sway
Landing on my shoulder
Telling me about their final journey.
In Autumn’s release of its glorious days
It shows me what a wonderful life it had,
The fascinating things it saw while it was here.
Children playing hide and seek.
Adults strolling hand in hand.
Teens laughing and skating.
Flowers reaching up towards the sun.
Dogs running and barking with joy in the rain.
If only we could feel and see each of these things every day
We’d never want to grow old.
